[Abstract] Hepatitis A is an acute viral hepatitis caused by hepatitis A virus (HAV), which is mainly transmitted through fecal-oral route. Since the introduction of hepatitis A vaccine at the end of the 20th century, the global prevalence of hepatitis A has decreased. However, in recent years, hepatitis A outbreaks have occurred frequently in populations of men who have sex with men (MSM) in Europe, South America, North America, Asia, Oceania and other regions, and gene sequencing has revealed that HAV strains in different countries and regions are linked, causing widespread concern. This article reviews the prevalence of hepatitis A in MSM population and discusses the relevant prevention and control measures. |
